Poster advertising the Moore/Chemistry Intra-Library Loan serviceThe Betty & Gordon Library is open to all members of the University and others on application. It is an excellent library to work in, but if you would find it more convenient for a book to be fetched for you from there, then our new Moore/Chemistry Intra-Library Loans service is for you!

Books from the Betty & Gordon Moore Library will be fetched for Chemistry Library readers every Tuesday, for free.

Moore Library readers can also request Chemistry Library books to be fetched for them, also on Tuesdays, and for free.

Please remember that you will be borrowing according to the rules of the lending library, so you should always check the relevant library borrowing regulations as these may differ from library to library. Moore Library borrowing regulations can be found here. Chemistry Library borrowing regulations can be found here.

This service will be provided on a trial basis initially, probably for the duration of an academic year. We will be continually monitoring the use of the service and the amount of time and effort it takes for library staff, and will review this at the end of the trial period. So it is a case of use it, or lose it! We really welcome your feedback on this service at library@ch.cam.ac.uk, or pop in to the library to speak to us.

The Betty & Gordon Moore Library

The Betty & Gordon Moore Library provides the University’s major working collections in science and technology. This includes collections in mathematics, physics, astronomy, computer science, materials science, engineering, biological, chemical, earth and environmental sciences.

When you visit, you'll find modern advances in study space design. The Library has full Wi-Fi coverage and such facilities as fully-fitted study rooms and study pods, as well as adjustable desks, live plant life and portable blackboards, whiteboards and beanbags to create your own ideal working environment.

The library delivers 'Moore Methods', an extensive programme of in-house teaching sessions that are regularly promoted throughout the year. It also operates the free 'Scan & Deliver' service which allows staff and students at the University of Cambridge to get remote access to any of the library's material that is not currently available electronically. It aims to deliver documents within a 24-hour time-frame.
